When I share that I’m a photographer and artist, people often respond with, “what kind of an artist are you?” And for a long time, I felt like I needed to have a defined answer. But I don’t. I’m a paper collage artist. A theater set designer and painter. A canvas painter of landscapes and sometimes people (and sometimes abstract). I design murals, and do graphic design/branding for a select handful of clients. I create all sorts of things with my sewing machine and crochet hooks – clothes, pillows, gifts for the people I love. What it comes down to is that I have an innate need to MAKE. Create. Play. What a gift it is to ‘play’ something into existence – where only supplies exist at the start of the process, by the end something completely brand new appears. Art is so incredibly transformational.
My art playground is my etsy shop where I sell a fine art prints of my paper collages and whatever else is inspiring me at the moment. My shop is called – emmie and co. goods – Emmie is what many of my family call me and of course the co. is for my crew of beautiful kiddos who inspire me daily and often have a hand in what I’m creating. They make for a great set of art critics who continue to give me feedback and push me to grow.
Some past exhibitions include:
